Overview

GreenPrint Solutions was established in 2008 in Peninsula, Ohio.  We have developed our expertise in environmental planning by managing a diversity of projects for public, private, agency, and non-profit clients for more than 15 years. 

What We Do

We focus on growing clean and green. We provide environmental planning and implementation, site suitability analysis, impact analysis, and conservation development services.  Our expertise is in the areas of planning, land use law, ecology, landscape and architectural design, and economic development. Planning

Our planning services look at future land use through hard science, innovative modeling of development scenarios, meaningful public participation, effective planning and visioning, and cutting edge zoning practices.  The goal is to lead communities and developers through a discovery process that profiles the landscape in several dimensions, develops consensus, articulates a vision, and provides the tools to achieve that vision. 

Ecological Studies

Our natural resource studies begin with a review of all available secondary source data to determine key issues. We conduct remote sensing analysis to characterize land use conditions and analyze potential remedies in terms of public health and safety issues, costs of environmental degradation, quality of life issues, and ecological health and integrity.

Landscape and Architectural Design

GreenPrint Solutions provides architectural and landscape design services for residential, retail, and commercial projects. In addition, we provide design and site review of proposed projects.

Land Use Law

We also assist attorneys representing public and private sector clients in land-use litigation by providing expert witness and litigation consulting services. 

Economic Development

Our economic development services are intended to help our clients realize sustainable growth through realistic strategies and practices that improve the economic strength and quality of life of their residents.

GIS

GreenPrint Solutions offers Geographic Information Systems (GIS) decision support software and consulting. We use GIS-based analysis and visualization software help you make informed, efficient decisions about land-use planning and resource management. Our GIS offerings provide a real-time interactive environment of 3-D visuals, intelligent maps and dynamic analysis tools.

Grantwriting

We have a proven track record is securing grants for clients. We know how to target giving markets and convert them from awareness to dollars and to assist developing strategies for fundraising.

Marketing and Media

GreenPrint Solutions specializes in marketing strategies for development. Our staff brings a background in advertising and public relations and media production to promoting our projects. We assist our clients with market research, statistical analysis, conducting focus groups and individual interviews, and developing promotional programming.

About Us

Our passion is helping to build healthy livable communities, creating a better quality of life now and in the future.  GreenPrint Solutions is an environmental planning consulting business specializing in sustainable development strategies.

Founder and planner Laura DeYoung started GreenPrint Solutions after more than twelve years of success as an environmental planning consultant where she gained a reputation in environmental, agricultural, and cultural heritage preservation while helping communities pursue sustainable economic development. Laura began her career in educational media at The University of Akron while pursuing a masters in business, specializing in marketing for development, and a doctoral programming in planning, specializing in ecotourism. Laura also has an undergraduate from Denison University and an international baccelaute from Marymount in Kingston-upon-Thames.

Our designer Scott Mercer has over 20 years of experience in architectural and landscape design and project development including international projects. He has a BS in Architectural Design from Bowling Green State University and specializes in reducing environmental impact of facilities.

Our ecologist Jay Abercrombie assists clients in avoiding or mitigating environmental damage to aquatic resources, especially wetlands, streams, and lakes.  He has managed many major projects for transportation corridors, community preservation plans, and rare and threatened species protection, with particular emphasis on the Great Lakes watershed. He has as BS in Biology from The University of Akron and a PhD in Entomology from Cornell University.

Our agricultural liason Aaron Lee Smith brings over thrity years of farming and leadership in organizations like the Farm Bureau.  When agricultural open space dedications, transitional urban garden land banks, and CAUV for potenial development areas are suitable for projects, he designs and implements the agricultural activity. As a shepherd, he has served as an American delegate to the World Sheep & Wool Congress and has been part of a joint trade mission for the Ohio Department of Agriculture to Canada. Aaron oversees leasing of sheep labour to produce well-manicured lawns and quality free-range local meat on urban and suburan lands.

Professor Alan Weinstein, the principal of Alan C. Weinstein, Inc., holds a joint faculty appointment at Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, and also serves as Director of the Colleges' Law & Public Policy Program. He has over 30 years of experience in practice as a planner, attorney, consultant, and expert witness in settings ranging from research design and project management to assisting attorneys in state and federal court litigation at both the trial and appellate levels.
